Disney Cruise Line Moves Up Launch Dates for Two Upcoming Ships

Disney Cruise Line is moving up the launch dates for two of its upcoming cruise ships, bringing its current fleet expansion plans to completion a year earlier than originally expected.

The changes involve two of the three smaller Disney cruise ships previously announced for 2029, 2030 and 2031. Disney has not yet revealed names for these ships, so they are currently referred to as Ships 11, 12 and 13.

When we say smaller, these will still be sizable cruise ships. The new class is expected to accommodate around 3,000 passengers and be smaller than Disney’s Dream- and Wish-class ships, while larger than its original Magic-class vessels.

Here is how the updated schedule compares with Disney’s original plans:

• Ship 11: Remains scheduled to debut in 2029.
• Ship 12: Moves up from 2030 to late 2029.
• Ship 13: Moves up from 2031 to late 2030.

Disney first shared more details about the new class of smaller ships in 2024. The three ships are expected to offer a more intimate experience while still including the dining, entertainment and other features associated with Disney Cruise Line.

Before those ships arrive, Disney Believe is scheduled to join the fleet in late 2027. The ship will be another Wish-class vessel, following Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.

Disney has not yet announced names, itineraries or additional onboard details for Ships 11, 12 and 13.

With Ships 12 and 13 now arriving sooner, Disney Cruise Line is expected to complete its current fleet expansion by the end of 2030 instead of 2031.
