Norwegian Cruise Line has released new images of the first phase of upgrades at Great Stirrup Cay, providing a clearer view of what is now open and what remains to be introduced on its private island in the Bahamas.

The images appear to be promotional visuals released by the cruise line, providing an early look at how the upgraded areas are intended to come together.

Norwegian Cruise Line says several key upgrades are now open at Great Stirrup Cay, including the pool complex, cabanas, kids’ splash pad, and adults-only Vibe Shore Club.

The updates are led by Great Life Lagoon, a new 1.4-acre heated pool area that now anchors the island. The pool is larger than two Olympic-sized pools combined and includes a beach-style entry, shallow water areas for kids, two swim-up bars, and surrounding cabanas.

Nearby, Splash Harbor adds a complimentary splash pad for younger guests. Adults have a dedicated option as well: the new Vibe Shore Club, an adults-only beachfront area available with an all-day pass, featuring a private bar and cabanas.

One of the most impactful changes is the addition of a multi-ship pier. Ships can now dock directly at Great Stirrup Cay instead of tendering, reducing the risk of skipped port calls due to sea conditions. Cruisers have already reported ships using the new pier, confirming it is operational.

The upgrades also include a new Welcome Center and an island-wide tram system, making it easier for guests to navigate the expanding destination.

More changes are still ahead. Great Tides Waterpark, scheduled to open in summer 2026, is expected to feature 19 waterslides, an 800-foot river, a large kids splash zone, and a cliff-jumping area.

Norwegian expects more than one million guests to visit Great Stirrup Cay in 2026 across 17 ships.
